Let’s have a look at this interesting conversation. It started talking about grounding but it improved into energy and air fields.

Q. How do we know if we’re grounded or grounded enough?

A. If you weren’t grounded your thought process would be sprinkled. You might have difficulty concentrating, thinking clearly or communication. In five element terms you’d be water or air. You know that you are grounded when it is possible to focus and stay with a thought without being diverted.

After a session I check to see how my customer’s balance is and if they’re having trouble communicating. If they look somewhat un-grounded, I will ask them to sit down (not put down), give them some water and something light to eat like crackers or nuts. I’ll also place the Ohm/Earth (136.1hz) on their knees and bottom of their feet (kidney 1). I’ve lived in the forests and near the sea so I’ll invite them to sit out and connect with the natural environment.

I had a session with a woman who in the last minute couldn’t come to her appointment. She sent her husband instead. He’d never experienced sound treatment or any sort of alternative healing. After the session he had to support himself to stand up was couldn’t speak in complete sentences. When he had been able to talk, it was to inform me that he had to drive 40 minutes on the highway to the airport. Anyone who has driven in Logan Airport in Boston knows what that may be like. I sat him down and worked on his toes and knees together with the Ohm/Earth tuning fork, gave him some water and after 5 minutes he was good to go.

Q. Do you agree with a few therapists’ statement it is quite important for the therapist as well as for your customer to be grounded? And that this applies to before and after the session?

A. I disagree with part of the statement. As a therapist I think it’s important that I remain grounded and aware so I can observe the person I’m working with to make sure they’re familiar with the session. Facial expressions or body movements will help me so I remain present to observe. Sometimes I get sensations in my body that sometimes I will associate with what my customer is feeling. So relax and realize that you as the therapist can also be getting healing but bear in mind that the session is for the person on the table. You’re merely lucky enough to be there.

It’s not essential for the customer to be grounded through the session. Healing comes from letting go and letting yourself experience greater levels of energy and consciousness. Being grounded during a session is a like a balloon with a weight tied to it. The balloon floats but is tethered. A fantastic recovery session is when the weight at the end of the series is mild enough so the balloon can rise off the floor but not fly off. You come from this session relaxed and unburdened by what’s been bothering you.

I’ve completed sessions in which the balloon is released from the weight and the customer has what could be described as an out of body experience. When this happens profound healing can occur, usually emotional or spiritual in nature. I do not plan for this or try to make it happen. The customer controls this and will do so if they’re ready and willing. That’s the reason I remain present and grounded. If I sense they are going into a deep healing or meditation, I will correct my session and the resources I use to support their process. The tools I use, tuning forks, singing bowls, crystal harps and crystal pyramids will vary for each individual.

Q. If it’s not important to ground the patient, what about closing the aura or energy field? Isn’t this essential?

A. When you work with atmosphere or energy areas with reiki, a tuning fork or any sort of healing practice, you’re working with vibration. Vibration may not be opened or shut, it’s simply there, always. If a person comes to me stating they feel depressed, I recognize that as lower vibration. By using tuning forks, singing bowls etc. I understand to be greater vibration, I’m creating an environment in which the decrease vibration may not be present and must leave making space for the higher vibration. So for me it’s never about closing an energy field, it’s about creating an environment where only positive energy can exist.
