Meditation might be the key

Why Meditate?
Once the domain of monks and religious seekers; meditation is being researched by scientists and recommended by physicians as a means to enable you to handle change. Meditation can help you feel less anxious and more in control of your own thoughts. Regular practice provides you the clarity and sense of direction you will need to follow along with your heart’s desire.

What’s Meditation

There are a lot of classical definitions and interpretations of meditation which range from thoughtful contemplation to some kind of discipline designed to elevate your level of consciousness and wake you emotionally.

In essence meditation is simply a process whereby you divert your mind from outside events to inner consciousness.

Swami Vishnu-devananda describes meditation as “a continuous flow of perception or thought like the flow of water in a river”

Simple Meditation Practice

If you’re wanting to make changes in your career attempt the next meditation. In meditation, your mind is calmed and turned inwards. This will help to refocus your energy and, calms and soothes your ideas. Once you’re feeling calm and focused it is much easier to explore different options open to you.

1: Find a quiet location. Somewhere where you feel secure and there’s not much to upset and distract you.

2: Sit comfortably. Either on the ground on a pillow or on a seat.

3: make sure that your spine is straight. If you’re sitting on a chair, have your feet resting firmly on the floor. Rest your hands on your knees or on your lap. Relax your shoulders and gently tuck your chin in, so you’ve got a nice, long neck.

4: Close your eyes and take a slow steady breath in through your nose and breathe out.

5: Repeat this breathing pattern five to seven times, each time spending a little longer on the out-breath. This will help to calm your mind and prepares you for meditation.

6: Stay focused on “listening” to the breath out for 5 – 15 more minutes. Allow the breath to be continuous and complete. If your mind wanders and you lose track of your breath, that is okay, just guide your consciousness back to observing the out-breath.

7: Slowly open your eyes sit quietly for a few more minutes and write down any ideas or inspirations that you experienced. These tips often provide vital clues that will help you decide what you need to do.

Try to set aside time on a daily basis to practice this meditation. With regular exercise, your mind starts to get clearer and you’re more able to decide exactly what you will need to do to change tasks.
